2010 CANADA GP: McLAREN WITH 1-2, HAMITON TWO IN A ROW

It has been another sensational afternoon with decisive overtaking moves once again making the difference in a hard-fought scrap at the top. Weekend finished with McLaren scoring once again a one-two in great fashion to take a clear lead in both championships. Lewis Hamilton win Canadian Grand Prix in which high tyre wear played a pivotal role, his weakest spot earlier. Button took second, taking advantage of mistake from Alonso overtaking slow car ahead of him.

Fighting for Pole in Canada was most interesting and most intriguing in the past eight races. Hamilton ended the dominance of Red Bull in qualifying. But we must say that Red Bull last session chose to drive with HARD tyres and McLaren with SOFT tyres!

FIRST FREE PRACTICE

Jenson Button beat Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton for fastest time on first free training in Canada. Although weather conditions were dry, with only a few drops of rain, drivers complained about the very dirty and slippery asphalt in their preliminary laps, so past half hour before anyone tried to set some time. When fighting began best times had McLaren, mixed with Mercedes of Michael Schumacher. Lucas di Grass was the only driver that does not set the time, becouse most of the session spent in the pits.

SECOND FREE PRACTICE

Sebastian Vettel put Red Bull on top of the second training in Montreal ahead of Fernando Alonso and Nico Rosberg. The training went quietly, with little incidents and little drama, but as a major problem for the afternoon was graining of tires, many drivers reported their teams of extreme graining, especially the problem was expressed with the soft tires. Times began to be six to eight seconds slower on the softer tires.

NEWS IN BRIEF

Mercedes is considering a cut in its budget for F1, 10% ahead of 2011. According to the commentator Jean-Louis Moncet, the Board of the German manufacturer has met Monday to discuss the costs in Formula 1. Moncet, who writes for the authoritative Auto Plus said that Mercedes will revise its budget after the race at Hockenheim in July and is likely a reduction of 10% for 2011-2012. The Board had also discussed the possibility of supplying engines to fourth team in 2011.

Lewis Hamilton is pleased of returning to Canada, where in 2007 he won his first race in Formula 1. The Englishman is hoping to repeat the success of Turkey in Montreal.

"It seems very long ago, but right here in Montreal in 2007 I won my first race in F1 and I have great memories of that weekend: pole position, the insane number of Safety-Car down the track, some uncertainties in the laps ... and the inal result was really fantastic!

" I always like Canada! The circuit is fast and challenging, incredibly difficult: you can not make any mistakes, becouse you`ll find printed on the wall. This town, these people are wonderful ... and the best thing here is that the public supports all the drivers and all teams. I'm really speechless. "

Jenson Button is surprised by Ferrari's current form. "This is strange. Ferrari had the perfect winter. They were fast, very consistent. I thought they would be unstopable. Thir first race was very fast, but we made good progress and now we are faster than them. But they must n`t be written off because they are a strong team, and Fernando and Felipe are experienced pilots.

2010 CANADA GP: BRIDGESTONE PREVIEW

Canadian Grand Prix is back!!! Scheduled for Sunday, June 13 at demanding circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. Bridgestone will bring medium and super soft compound tires for dry weather and intermediate for wet. Track located at Notre-Dame, consists of urban roads and permanent track. Have slow and fast corners, fast straights, tight barriers. The circuit require heavy braking and high traction.
